Which Side Do You Choose?

*

.Psalm 91 – “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.  I WILL say of the LORD, He IS my refuge and my fortress:  my God;  in Him will I trust.  SURELY He SHALL deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.  He SHALL cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust:  His TRUTH SHALL be thy shield and buckler.  Thou shalt NOT be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; nor for the pestilence that walketh  in darkness;  nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.  A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand;  but it shall not come nigh thee.  ONLY with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked … There shall NO evil befall thee, neither shall ANY plague come nigh they dwelling.  For He SHALL give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in ALL thy ways.  They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.  Thou SHALT tread upon the lion and adder:  the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.  Because he hath set his love upon Me, therefore WILL I deliver him:  I will set him on high, because he hath known My name.  He shall call upon Me, and I WILL answer him:  I will be with him in trouble;  I will deliver him, and honour him.  With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him My salvation.”

.
There are two “sides” found  in the Body of Christ today, even as there were two “sides” in the days of Moses and Joshua.

Two sides.

One side reads the above Psalm and says, “See!  Trouble can’t be avoided.  Trouble WILL come upon us, because we are in the world”.

The second side reads the above Psalm and says, “Well, glory!  Look at that! I am going to be delivered, rescued, saved, and even spared disaster, plagues, petilence, trouble, and terror!  Hallelujah!”

Which side do you choose?   {And yes, it is YOUR choice.}

As it was with Joshua and Caleb, so it is today

God chose twelve men, and showed the exact same Promsie to each of the twelve … a land with such abundance, “flowing with milk and honey” {Numbers 13:27} that a cluster of grapes had to be carried on a “pole by two men” {Numbers 13:23}.

But ten of the men were terrified at the sight of the inhabitants of the land and decided that,  tho God was certainly able and powerful enough to cause them to go into that land …  {for they had seen all the glorious victories God had previously done for them, so they DID have personal knowledge that God was able} …  they chose to believe that surely in this instance it just wasn’t going to work out that way, and the inhabitants of that abundant  land were  certainly “stronger” {Num 13:31} than them and would indeed, over-power and conquer them.

And I hear the same fear spoken today.

“Yes, yes, God is certainly able, but…”

And there is a long list of buts:
It’s just not wise to think you will always come out on top;
You can’t be so fanatical to think that no harm will ever come near you or your household;
You never know if that certain disease won’t kill you;
Don’t you know God gets to choose who He will rescue and spare or who will die because of disaster or calamity

But this is just the one “sides” point of view.

For this is absolutely NOT what I read, when I read Psalm 91.

I understand that I live in a fallen world, where there is trouble all around me.  And I even understand I have an enemy who would want to put  trouble directly upon me!  But what I see in Psalm 91 are some awesome Promises from God ….

Promises that He will be my shield, my fortress, and my refuge, so that many of lifes troubles won’t even be able to come near my household or family;
Promises that even if an attack comes upon me, He WILL deliver me, and I will NOT be taken down, stay down, or be devastated by it!
And Promises that I get to stomp all over the dragon and the adder who come against me, and trample them under my foot while I kick them out of my way when they try to bring their attacks!

This is what I see.

Sure, in this world trouble will come at me.  Jesus said so {John 16:33}.  But He also added to that statement a “BUT” !!

Yes, He said,  “BUT  be of good cheer;  I have overome the world”.

Now Christ’s overcoming the world does ME no good, if that’s all He did.  But His overcoming is not all He did.  He overcame the world and was given all authority in heaven and on earth, and  now He has given me that authority as I  “Go into all the world” {Matthew 28:18}.

The choice is up to each of us individually.

Each of us may look sqarely at the Promises of God and simply refuse to believe them the way they are written

or

We can choose to look at the Promises of God and receive them, thank God that they are true, believe they will ALWAYS accomplish in our lives what they say they will, and then WATCH OUT …. as God’s glorious power manifests in every situation in our lives!  Hallelujah!

Numbers 14: 9 - Only rebel NOT ye against the Lord, neither fear … the Lord IS with us.
