Covenant Thoughts / Quick Thought For The Day
Tribulations,
distresses,
persecutions,
and famines?
Part 1
Too many times, Christians like to focus on the Scriptures which state “In this world you will have trouble” {John 16:33} or “What will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Just as it is written, ‘For Your sake we are being put to death all day long; we were considered as sheep to be slaughtered.’ “ {Romans 8:35-36}.
The carnal mind and the flesh, which feels pain and remembers past painful situations, seem to like to focus on the negative.
But we must train our minds to NOT STOP THERE in the reading of such verses!
We must train our minds to see, to actually read, and to remember the awesome Promises which always surround every seemingly ‘doom-filled’ Scripture.
The entirety of Romans 8:26-39, for example, goes on to tell us that:
“He Who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him FREELY give us ALL things?”
Immediately after Paul’s question regarding who will separate us from the love of Christ … will tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, etc … Paul reminds us that God’s love, faithfulness, power and covenant with us, will actually cause us “in ALL THESE things” to be “MORE THAN CONQUERORS” {Romans 8:37}.
Yes, the Scriptures are FILLED with Promises that God will look over us, shelter us, and protect us in the midst of trouble as well as provide power, victory, joy, peace, provision and authority for every situation {Luke 10:19}.
So lets remember to keep God’s Covenant Promises always before our eyes and in our hearts, minds, and mouth, and not remain focused on what the flesh, sin, or the devil will try to put on us!

“Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked …. But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night …. in WHATEVER he does, he prospers”
{Psalm 1}
“If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it WILL move; and NOTHING will be impossible to you”
{Matthew 17:20}
“But seek His kingdom, and these things WILL be added to you. Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has chosen GLADLY to give you the kingdom.”
{Luke 12:31-32}
“Now to Him Who is able to do FAR MORE abundantly beyond ALL that we ask or think, according to the POWER that WORKS within us (right now, already) to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.”
{Ephesians 3:19}

Tribulations,
distresses,
persecutions,
and famines?
Part 2
Here is yet another Scripture verse to tag on to Part 1, in which I wanted to remind everyone that we are MORE than conquerors in ALL trials and tribulations that come our way:
“But the righteous will LIVE by his FAITH”
{Habakkuk 2:4}
The context of this verse is judgment coming upon Israel. A fierce nation was to invade Israel. A terrible people who would show no mercy. It was a fearsome and terrifying prophesy {Habakkuk 1}.
As I’ve written before, tribulations, distresses, trials, persecutions, even famines, are all foretold in the Scriptures. I am not teaching that such will never come at, and try to take hold of, the one who believes God’s Word for deliverance and protection. If you think I preach that, you haven’t read all my posts or heard all my messages.
What I do preach is what the Bible tells us: In ALL these things we are MORE THAN CONQUERORS through Christ Jesus Who loves us, and Who has Promised shelter, deliverance, victory, joy, peace and even authority over ALL trials that come upon us and the earth! We will come THROUGH and OUT of the trials of life … not even smelling of smoke, if we pass through them with faith and joy! {Daniel 3:27}
“The righteous shall LIVE by his FAITH”
{Habakkuk 2:4}
The righteous shall LIVE, not die.
The righteous shall LIVE, not barely squeak by.
The righteous shall LIVE, not hide in terror hoping to be saved.
The righteous shall LIVE.
By his FAITH.
And
“This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our FAITH”
{1 John 5:4}
Rejoice and be glad in God’s victorious Promises. Don’t just read the warnings that trials and tribulations will come. Read the whole Book. The victory Promises. The Words which will build your spirit man in faith which tell you He will guide you, He will shelter you, He will cause your enemies to crumble before you; He will uphold you, He will feed you, He will heal you, and will always lead you in triumph!
Get such Scriptures rooted firmly in your spirit and in your thinking so that when the storms of life come upon you, GREAT will be your victory … and not your fall!

“Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and acts on them, I will show you whom he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid a foundation on the rock; and when a flood occurred, the torrent burst against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built.”
{Luke 6:47-48}
“No weapon that is formed against you will prosper; And every tongue that accuses you in judgment you will condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, And their vindication is from Me,” declares the LORD”
{Isaiah 54:17}
