1 O God, whom I praise, do not remain silent,
2 for wicked and deceitful men have opened their mouths against me; they have spoken against me with lying tongues.
3 With words of hatred they surround me; they attack me without cause.
4 In return for my friendship they accuse me, BUT I AM A MAN OF PRAYER.
Psalm 109, NIV
While reading through the first Chapter of the Book of Acts, Acts 1:20 reads, “‘May another take his place of leadership.’e with the footnote leading to Psalm 109. As I looked over the first 20 verses in Psalm 109, I noted the Words, “but I am a man of prayer” in the midst of all the terrible things that are being told in this Psalm, and I was reminded: if we are not men/women of PRAYER there is no way we can walk in the midst of persecution and distress clothed with and walking in love, forgiveness, gentleness and all the rest of the Fruit of the Spirit.
In prayer we can keep our eyes on the prize. In prayer we can be filled anew with the joy and strength of the Holy Spirit. And in prayer we can hear the voice of the Father warning us of things to come and/or strengthening us and maturing us just by the voice of His Spirit teaching and leading us and giving us words of encouragement when faced with trials.
Prayer is so important on so many levels (see my list of differing Prayers HERE) but through this Psalm I am reminded that Prayer will get us THROUGH. Prayer will get us through the overwhelming desires to hold grudges and live in depression or oppression when people and/or trials come at us.
Remember to pray as outlined with the Scriptures in my other Post, to build yourself up in your most holy faith and to keep your joy and other Fruits of the Spirit flowing in and through you, so that you will be just like your elder brother, Jesus … which is the Will of God for your life!

I’m reading Beth Moore’s “Praying God’s Word” and am learning to let my prayers come from a more scriptual place. Great post.
I remembering when God started revealing to me how to pray Scripturally and how it gave me great joy and hope. It is a wonderful thing to be transformed from hopeless victim to hope-filled Child of God, isn’t it! Good bless your prayer time
