Speaking What The Father Says

Teachings On The Power of The Tongue

SPEAKING WHAT THE FATHER SAYS

*

Jesus said,
“as My Father hath taught Me, I speak these thing”
{John 8:28}

and
“He Who sent Me is true; and the things which I heard from Him, these I speak to the world”
{John 8:26}

When times get tough and your mouth wants to say the opposite of what the Word says …. stop.  Guard your mouth.  Stop your mouth from  speaking anything contrary to the Word of God.  Stop your mouth from speaking anything that is contrary to what God proclaims is your inheritance.

God says you  ARE healed {1 Peter 2:24}
God says He heals ALL your diseases {Psalm 103:3}

God says you WILL eat and be satisfied {Deut 11:15}
God says you and your children will NEVER be found begging for food {Psalm 37:25}

God says His blessings WILL overtake you when you obey Him {Deut 28:8}
God says that the peoples of the earth WILL be able to see His blessing upon you and your family {Deut 28:10}

God says you ARE blessed and not cursed {Psalm 1:1, Galatians 3:13,14}
God says your children WILL be blessed {Psalm 37:26} and your children WILL be mighty on the earth {Psalm 112:2}

*

And what God says, we should say.

And what God teaches us, we should believe and then speak accordingly.

Choose today, and tomorrow, and the next day to speak ONLY that which the Father says.

Choose to call yourself blessed.

Stop siding with the devil by calling yourself sick.  Or depressed.  Or unlucky.

Stop siding with the devil and calling your children rebellious.

Choose to say what God says, what God has taught us, what God has called us.

With Christ as our example, let’s say exactly what He said about Himself, and state, “I ONLY say that which I hear the Father say and I only say that which the Father has taught me.”

* * *

Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof
{Proverbs 18:21}

… whosoever shall say  … and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith
{Mark 11:23}

Believe unto Righteousness, Confess unto Salvation

Romans 10:1-10 (NKJV)

1:   Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved.

2:   For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.

3:   For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God.

4:   For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

5:   For Moses writes about the righteousness which is of the law, “The man who does those things shall live by them.”

6:   But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’” (that is, to bring Christ down from above)

7:   or, “‘Who will descend into the abyss?’ (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead)

8:   But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”(that is, the word of faith which we preach):

9:   that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

10: For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

There is so much in this section of scripture concerning faith and confession that we can only get part of it here… but let’s wade in….

In Romans 10:1, Paul tells us his motivation:   he wants to see his own people saved, i.e. the Jews who are still working under the law to be saved.

Paul’s motivation in what he is about to say is to get the Salvation which is by Faith to a people who are trained up in a Salvation which is by Law.

We look back at this and can see in the book  of Acts the struggles and opposition that Paul encountered from people steeped in a salvation by Law.  We can also read in the book of Galatians that the influence of the Salvation by Law folks was enough to corrupt the thinking and actions of some Apostles and Paul had to rebuke them!  (see Galatians Chapters 1 and 2)

Compare this to the Church, today

The church has received the Gospel concerning spiritual salvation.  They know it is by faith, they preach it is by faith, and they will brand you a Gospel heretic if you say it is obtained by any other means than simple faith.  Yet if you attend some of these same churches, you will hear many sermons about do’s and don’ts which leave the listeners with the impression that they have to live their daily Christian walk ‘toughing it out’  …  striving to keep laws as a means of working out their salvation.

Paul talks about this struggle in Galatians chapter 3.

Yes, Paul is contrasting the growth in Christ via Spirit and Faith vs. Old Testament Law,  but by the time you get out of many church services, all you are left with is a series of challenges to live by a set of New Testament Laws and very little “how” information.  The only spiritual mechanisms you are told that can help you live a Christian Life are Bible study, prayer and fellowship.

There is little to no application of Faith and the Spirit to your spiritual growth.

It is like Paul says in Galatians, you start out with Faith and the Spirit as the means to salvation and then try to perfect that salvation with laws and works of the flesh.

This is a formula for frustration and failure, for the Laws of the New Testament are even stricter than the Laws of the Old Testament in many regards.

The New Testament calls you to a higher walk than the Old Testament Laws.  It calls you to a walk of love.  Go to the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew Chapter 5.  Some of Jesus listener’s thought He was against the Law but instead He tells them He is there to fulfill the Law and He then takes the Law to another level in a number of areas.  To those who thought the  Law justified them, Jesus did them a service by taking the Law to another level to make sure they understood that they too, were sinners.     And yet I have been in multiple church services where the pastor taught these higher Sermon on the Mount laws as something to strive to live by yet gave the listeners no real help in how to live by those higher laws.    All the listeners got was a higher standard and clearer knowledge that they were sinners… what they did not get was Salvation!

Note this! Revelation of the Law,  explanation of the Law, elevation in the standard of the Law,  only brings the knowledge of right and wrong and in the case of fallen man it brings the knowledge of sin, “missing the mark”.  This is what the Law was always designed to do and it still does it quite well and is useful exactly for this purpose.

Note this! The law does NOT bring the power of salvation with it.  The law by itself brings neither the promise nor the power of change or power to fulfill the law.

Then what does bring salvation?
That is what Paul is going to explain in the remainder of the first 10 verses of Romans chapter 10.

Romans 10:2,3

2:   For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.

3:   For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God.

In verses 2 and 3 we learn that zeal for God or for the things of God will not gain you salvation if it is not in line with God’s plan and methods.

At the time Paul wrote this God had, through Jesus, fulfilled the Old Covenant and started a New Covenant with revised rules of operation and the challenge was to get this new order across to the Jewish people who were steeped in the Law and the traditions they added to the Law.  There was a tremendous amount of historical and cultural inertia to overcome.

Paul tells us that his own people were ignorant of the methods of God and in particular the application of Faith, even though this method is evidenced in the Old Testament prior to the Law.

As an example,  the method of faith was evidenced in the life of Abraham, Joshua, David and many others.   In the mean time, the Law and added traditions had taken on such importance that the Law was exalted as “the” means of salvation.

But this is not unlike the Church today.  Once they get past spiritual salvation, (being born again), they are at a loss of how to proceed.

Many have a zeal for God but they pursue their Christian growth by attempting to keep the higher laws of the New Testament without the help of Faith and the Spirit.

They don’t submit themselves to the methods of God.

Romans 10:4-5

4:   For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

5:   For Moses writes about the righteousness which is of the law, “The man who does those things shall live by them.”

In verse 4, Paul puts a bold end point to the role of the law regarding righteousness.  The Law still maintains its ability to show men their sin but any ability it had to establish righteousness before God, ended with Jesus.  If it’s ability to establish righteousness ended, how can it be effective to bring about salvation?   The answer is that keeping Laws cannot bring about salvation under the New Covenant.

The Fraternal Twins:
Righteousness and Salvation

It is important to note that Paul here, and in other places, talks about righteousness and salvation as two different but related states.

Righteousness is a legal term. It is a statement that you are qualified or approved before God and qualified and approved to be given salvation, qualified and approved to receive salvation.

Salvation is the actual change in your condition in your world. Spiritual salvation is the actual rebirth of your human spirit, your spirit made alive to God.  Salvation of your soul is the actual transformation of your mind, will and emotions so that they are aligned with the plan and nature of God.  Salvation of your body can be something as simple as the healing of your current body from disease or frailty.  In the end, the salvation of your body will be complete when Jesus returns and your body is transformed into the likeness of Jesus’ resurrected body.  There is even a salvation of creation,  this earth, which  is some sort of restoration to  its original health and design, but like our bodies, it has its greatest fulfillment at the end of days when the Bible says there is a new heaven and new earth.

So we see that salvation is the actual manifestation of God ordained change.

Righteousness is the legal aspect of salvation.  Righteousness qualifies you for the provision of God’s salvation.  Righteousness qualifies you to make  demands  on the provisions of salvation.  Righteousness is the legal judgment of God in your favor.  Case closed, you win, you are righteous.

But with that judgment in your favor there is also a ruling of the court in your favor telling you what you can collect on.

The salvation rulings come in two basic flavors:

Flavor 1:
Your ruling of righteousness puts you into the family of God.  It makes you a joint heir with Jesus, an heir of salvation.  Everything that is in the package of the last will and testament of Jesus you can now take collection on.  But you must still make collection on that inheritance.  Collecting on the inheritance is a separate step that follows   being judged a legal heir.   The declaration of salvation is the list of specific benefits of the court’s ruling that you can now collect on,  but you must still collect on them.

Flavor 2:
You can collect damages from the loser of the court case.  The loser in this case is Satan and his kingdom.  Anything that Satan has stolen from you, you now have a right to demand back and in many cases you have a right to claim back additional fees for damages, (Exodus, 22:1-4, Exodus 22:7-9, Leviticus 6:5,  Proverbs 6:30,31), and any area that Satan is occupying in your life, you now have a right to demand his departure and you can enforce a “restraining order” on his meddling in your life (Luke 10:19).

Winning the Judgment
vs
Collecting the Judgment

However, if any of you have been in a court case you know that it is one thing to win the case and get the judgment in your favor and it is quite another thing to see that the judgment is carried out.  This is like Righteousness and Salvation.

We had a landlord once that gave us back zero dollars from our deposit at the end of the lease.  We had cleaned up the apartment and it was not damaged.  The return of the deposit was due us but not one penny of it was returned.  We went to small claims court and the judge ruled in our favor,  but it turned out that the landlord had so many different shell corporations that it was nearly impossible to track down the place of business or bank account to collect from.  It would have cost us more to hire the Marshall who was in charge of enforcing the judgment,  or to hire a Lawyer to track down the correct avenue for collecting  the debt due us.  We could have worked on our own to track down the right place but the landlord was creating new shell corporations as he went along.  We had been judged righteous … we were granted a specific judgment of salvation …  but we were unable to collect on that judgment of salvation.

That was not a satisfying solution at all but it is very similar to the situation that most Christians find themselves in with respect to the provisions of Salvation.  They have been unable to collect on Salvation’s  provisions, whether it is part of their inheritance or a judgment against their adversary, Satan.

Note this:

The gospel and the kingdom of God are not meant to end in righteousness

rather they should carry forward,  to collection of the inheritance and the debt, all to the Glory of God and to the benefit of the one declared righteous.

That collection phase is called, “Salvation.”

Note that it was not the Judge’s job to collect on the judgment concerning my rental deposit.  It was my job or (more…)

Is Continual Confession Necessary?

THE POWER OF CONTINUAL CONFESSION

Is constant confession of the Word of God helpful?

Is there power in continually making a confession?

Or is continually confessing our answer or a Promise of God necessary until we see the answer manifest?

Below are just a few Scriptures showing answers to why Christians should be continually confessing the Word of God over their lives:

– 1 — God’s Word is ALIVE and ACTIVE and POWERFUL and cuts down strongholds but must be spoken to be effective

If you have a stronghold in your life, in your family, in your body, in your finances, or in your mind KEEP
CONFESSING God’s Truth over the matter;
The Word is the answer to tear down ALL strongholds in our lives, but the Word sitting in a book on a night stand won’t do anything for you;
The Word must CONTINUALLY FLOW FROM YOUR MOUTH in order to have power in your life and circumstances.

“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ” 2 Corinthians 10:4-5

“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and the joint and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ” Hebrews 4:12

– 2 — The Word of God, constantly pouring out of our mouth, will renew our minds AND keep our thoughts in line with God’s Truths and His will for our lives

When our mouths speak, our thoughts are shut down … our minds shut up to listen to what our mouths have to say;
By keeping the Truth flowing out of our mouths, our minds won’t have time to think fearful, negative, or doubt thoughts;
Pessimistic, fear-filled words are constantly being spoken by people around us bombarding us with thoughts and feelings contrary to God’s Truth;
Daily confession renews our minds and reminds us about the facts of what God has promised and brings the Promises to the forefront of our minds;
As we get in the “habit” of daily speaking God’s Promises over our lives, we will be less likely to become afraid, agitated, confused, or filled with doubt when ANY attack comes our way … our minds will be used to FOCUSING on God and His Promises instead of bad news!

“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ” 2 Corinthians 10:4-5

“Gird up the loins of your mind” 1 Peter 1:13

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God” Romans 12:2

– 3 — Constantly speaking the Word of God is keeping your “conversation” in line with God and His will

God says that whoever orders his conversation “aright”, or whoever keeps his tongue in line with the Word, will see God’s salvation, so if you have a need in your life, speak the Promises of God out loud every day regarding that situation;
As you keep confessing, and keep your conversation in line with God and His Word, you WILL see God’s salvation and His Promises manifest for that situation.

“Whoso offereth praise glorifieth Me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God.” Psalm 50:23

– 4 — Speaking the Word of God constantly out of your mouth gets angels to move on your behalf

Psalm 103:20 says the angels of God “do God’s commandments” and listen to the VOICE of His Word;
YOU are the mouth piece of God for your own life;
His Word spoken out of your mouth IS His Word in this world today;
Your mouth speaking God’s Words will gets those angels to obey His commands for your life.

“Bless the LORD, ye His angels, that excel in strength, that do His commandments, hearkening unto the voice of His word” Psalm 103:20

– 5 — Constantly speaking God’s Words over your life is a type of spiritual warfare

God’s Words are alive and powerful and if God’s Words are continually coming out of our mouths daily, then we are daily cutting away at strongholds that we do not see with our eyes and moving mountains that need to be moved;
It is us “making our stand” in the spirit realm and/or “holding our ground”;
If we keep our mouths silent, we are more likely to have our minds go off into directions that our minds shouldn’t be going off into …. directions of confusion, wondering, doubt, and focusing on trouble instead of focusing on God’s Truths for our situation.

“… and having done all, to stand” Ephesians 6:13

– 6 — As you continually confess God’s Promises on a daily basis, your faith will become stronger

Your faith WILL be built up when you continually CONFESS God’s Promises / Words from your mouth;
The Word of God will settle into your spirit man, take root in there, and grow and mature;
Your faith in the Word of God will become so strong that NO circumstance that life throws at you will be able to uproot the Word from your spirit;
You will KNOW in your spirit that the Word is the Truth and that the Word will WORK, or become a reality, to correct any negative circumstance.

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” Romans 10:17

– 7 — We are created in God’s image and SHOULD be speaking things into existence even as God does

God SPOKE the worlds and everything in them, into existence (Genesis 1);
Jesus cast demons out of people with His WORDS;
Jesus calmed raging storms with His WORDS;
Jesus raised the dead with His WORDS;
Jesus healed the sick with His WORDS;
Jesus is still today upholding the world and everything in it, by His POWERFUL WORD (Hebrews 1:3);
Again, God’s Word has all sorts of power, but God’s Word needs to be spoken by someone in order to have it “work”;
YOU need to be that “someone” SPEAKING God’s Word into your circumstances and over your life.

“…even God, Who quickeneth the dead, and CALLETH those things which be NOT as though they WERE”
Romans
4:17

– 8 — We are taught that our tongue directs the course of our lives

When a captain sets his ship out on a course, he stays at the steering wheel turning the “rudder” to make sure the ship stays on its course;
When he first sets the ship on its course, he doesn’t then go lay down and watch t.v., or go read a book becoming involved in other things and forgetting about his destination;
The captain stays at the steering wheel, directing the rudder, and keeping his ship on course;
“SO IT IS WITH THE TONGUE”, James reports.
We must keep our tongues working as our rudder, keeping the Promises of God rolling off our tongue UNTIL we reach our final destination.
And take special note: the Captain gets to set the course and choose the final destination AND so does the born-again believer;
Use your tongue as your rudder until you reach the destination you are desiring.

“…Behold also the ships, which though they be so great … are they turned about with a very small helm, WHITHERSOEVER THE GOVERNOR (captain) LISTETH (desires). Even so the tongue …” (James 3:3-4)

– 9 — We are taught that we should be speaking to our situations, by Jesus (Mark 11:23, Matthew 17:20, Matthew 21:21)

Jesus said SAY to your mountain, “Be removed”.
And He went on to say, “don’t doubt” but “believe” you’ve received your answer and then you will have what you SAY!

We need to be SAYING something first, in order to receive something.
.
But people have said to me in the past, “Well, Jesus just spoke ONE TIME and didn’t keep confessing over and over, and so we shouldn’t have to keep confessing something over and over and over”.

Why did Jesus NOT have to confess over and over what He wanted to be done?
And why do you, many times, have to keep confessing over and over?

Matthew 17:20 can give us one answer to this question.

The disciples came to Jesus to ask Him why they could not drive a demon out of a boy.
Jesus said, “Because you have so little faith” (NIV), or “Because of your unbelief” (KJV).

And what is the solution to unbelief or little faith? Romans 10:17 says faith comes by hearing God’s Word!

Therefore, when we are met with a difficult situation, we must keep the Word of God rolling off our tongues.
This will build up our faith for the situation.

If you speak once, and the situation is resolved, Praise God! Shout with joy, and go on your way.

However, if the situation is not immediately turned, then KEEP SPEAKING THE PROMISES OF GOD AS PRESENT TENSE TRUTHS over your situation!
Your faith WILL become strong enough to change the situation that you are speaking over … because faith comes by hearing the Word of God;
As you keep speaking the Promise, as you keep meditating on the Promise, and as you stay in faith believing you have received the Promise as the Truth for that situation, your continual confession, mixed with faith, WILL turn every situation around in your life as you speak out loud the powerful and alive Word of God.

In conclusion, there is one last statement that the Scriptures tell us we should be doing if we don’t see an immediate change in our situation as we are holding fast to our confession:

– 10 — ” … count it all joy when ye fall into divers (trials); Knowing this, that the trying (testing) of your faith worketh patience. But LET patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” James 1:2-4

As we stand our ground in the spirit realm, keeping our mouths in line with God’s Words, and continually “holding fast” to our confession, we absolutely should “count it joy” when our faith gets “tried”.

For if we truly accept James 1:2-4 as Truth for our lives, then we will be excited that a situation has arrived in our lives where we are forced to “stand our ground” and watch our persevering faith break all strongholds!

Seeing yet another situation crumble at the Word of God because of our patient confession, will build up our faith so strongly that we will be able to meet ANY future situation in life, head on, with joy and full assurance that the situation must come in line with God’s Word!

We will become mature, and complete, and lack nothing in our lives!

Thank God for His “great and precious Promises” which are equipping us to become partakers “of His divine nature” and escape the corruptions of the world!! (2 Peter 1:4)

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue; and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof”
Proverbs
18:21

“Let us hold fast our profession”
Hebrews
4:14, 10:23
